Lightroom CC locks up during HDR processing

Need help understanding why this will not work.  Every time I attempt to do an HDR merge, the RAM usages goes to >90% and the machine stops working.

I checked and I have 4 GB RAM.  Suggestions?
      Upgrade my RAM to 16GB?

Yes, HDR is RAM intensive, and it's not surprising that you run into trouble with only 4 GB.

I think 8 GB is recommended as a minimum for Lightroom, and it wouldn't hurt to get 16.

Here is the system requirements for lightroom from the Adobe website:

            • Intel® or AMD processor with 64-bit support*

            • Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10

            • 2 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)

            • 1024 x 768 display

            • 1 GB of Video RAM (VRAM). 2 GB of dedicated VRAM is suggested for large, high-resolution monitors, such as 4K- and 5K-resolution monitors.

            • 2 GB of available hard-disk space

            • DVD-ROM drive required if purchasing Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® retail boxed version

            • OpenGL 3.3 and DirectX 10-capable video adapter for GPU-related functionality

            • Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.†

But I figured the 4 GB was the issue.

Know what I get to do tomorrow.

            Thanks
