Currently I save all my design work locally to my hard drive of my PC and when I need to share files, use dropbox or a similar method.
I don't use the Cloud at all.
I am now wondering, for purposes of use at clients offices etc if I should look into it. More over, what I was actually thinking is, is it worth using a cloud storage system as my primary saving area (ie replace my computer hardrive with the cloud!)
I have been told of other alternatives to adobes cloud etc.
Could people please provide their opinions on both using a cloud as my sole storage facility for all files and documents and secondly if that is a good idea, suggestions for the cloud service.
You can use either as a primary storage, but you still needs to have some form of backup. You would be better off using a combination of both to achieve this and not rely on just one! You have a choice of cloud service providers with CC being one, Dropbox, Box, OneDrive etc... being others.
The cloud at clients' offices should work reasonably well, but of course, does rely on an internet connection! I would suggest as mentioned, some form of system using both methods, and a backup system too in order to keep things safe. This can be automated with some providers!
There are only 2 types of hard drive, one that has failed, and the other, which are going to fail, as a teacher once told his class!
My personal choice is to have my originals on my internal hard drive, copies on an external using Amazon.com: StarTech SuperSpeed USB 3.0 eSATA Hard Drive Docking Station with Cooling Fan: Electronics and a USB flash drive to take with me
As mentioned above... Internet connection not required
