Hey - i've managed to fix my problem.
I think there were some preferences saved from my previous install.
It wouldn't let me uninstall / reinstall Creative Cloud to do a fresh install of the app, as I think it got stuck believing I still had XD still installed.
- downloaded and opened the CreativeCloudCleaner app from here - Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems,
- it popped up with a box to 'remove XD preferences'.
- Reinstalled XD from the CC panel and it worked

Have you had a previous installation of Adobe XD, same as Howard Gadsby?
You may also try to remove the previous installation using the CreativeCloudCleaner, as described here: Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
yes , i had i installed and uninstalled by mistake and then this problem accrued

I am having this problem still and the Cleaner Tool didn't make it any better.
My problem started out with the Creative Cloud app never loading. I followed the Cleaner Tool instructions for that and wound up getting rid of everything to start fresh. Now I can download other programs but not XD (Exit 101 error). Nothing is working and it is very upsetting. Any ideas?
