I have bought the new sony rx100 iv and took it on a trip. Got back and tried to transfer the raw images to my mac. I have installed the latest update for the El Capitan program for camera raw support. I checked Sony's website and found that the rx100 iv is supported by El Capitan. Lightroom is unable to preview or import the raw images on my SanDisk 64 GB SDXC card. I have the Hoodman Steel USB 3.0 card reader which is compatible with El Capitan. I have Lightroom 5 and checked for recent available updates which there are none. The last update I installed was version 5.7.
LR is made by Adobe. El Capitan is an Apple product, Mac computer Operating System.
You need a newer version of LR. LR 6 or CC with the .4 or .5/.5.1 update.
The Sony RX100 iv came out about 4 or 5 months ago. LR 5 came out 2 years ago (+/-) and the last update for it was issued about 1+ year ago.
Or you could use the free Adobe 9.5.1 DNG converter program to convert the native RAW files from your newer Sony camera to DNG files. Then those would import into your current version of LR.
Only options are, as pointed out, convert to DNG or, upgrade your copy of Lightroom to version 6 or CC.
