movie trimmed in QuickTime fails import to InDesign

    bddesign

Adding video to a project and wanted to trim down the .mp4 to reduce the file size. Opened in QuickTime, selected Edit > Trim. Trimmed it. File > Save. The save window in Quicktime has an .mp4 extension to the file. I think, perfect: I now have a shorter mp4 file of a more reasonable file size. Back to InDesign Media panel. Click the Add Media button and I get a message the import fails.

The original file can still be brought into InDesign with no issue.

What did QuickTime do to the file to make it unusable, even though it retained the .mp4 extension?

Using InDesign CC on OSX 10.1.
