And what exactly is your question? I've read your lengthy post three times and I still don't get what you are having issues with. Or do you perhaps not understand some basic AE concepts like applying and reordering effects or pre-composing?
Hi, apologies for the unclear question, I have only been using after effects for a few weeks, I suppose I mean "precomposing", it's literally the process of adding effects to the source, then having them used as a source to another effect on another layer.
Apologies, again if it wasn't clear - I'm an Ae newbie.
I'm still not sure what you're saying. You can precompose and add effects inside the precomposition. What issues are you experiencing with this?
Also, unrelated, but you are not running the latest version. You are missing a lot of bug fixes. You should consider updating to 13.7.2

Take the source CC Sphere before you add the CC Sphere Effect - Precompose that source, Add effects in the pre-comp, then apply CC Sphere to the Pre-comp in your Main comp.
Ok thanks, this seems to make the most sense to me, as an AE newbie!
Thanks, I'll give this a try.
