I only use OpenType.
What version of EPUB? What version of InDesign? What operating system?
Did you get any error messages on export?
ID CC 2015, up to date.
No errors on export.
WOFF fonts can't be embedded with InDesign. InDesign does only know TTF and OTF when it comes to an ePub export. Also InDesign always encrypts the fonts when embedding to ePub, but not all E-Readers do understand or show encrypted fonts.
Do you have the chance to test the EPUB on a Mac or iOS device with iBooks? We have a lot of font rendering troubles with ADE on Windows (I filled a bug report and it is officially confirmed).
Thank you, that is good to know. Though, I have also been testing with iBooks on my phone and that is producing the same error.

InDesign ePub FXL Export requires and relies on OpenType fonts being rightfully available for web-related applications. Any fonts without the proper "encoding bits" or a severe degree of "obfuscation" will fail to be embedded into the ePub or fail to load upon reading. Normally InDesign should warn you for such mishap, and report an error message.
Which font are you using ? (Please state the full font name, with all abbreviations an such.)
Thank you. I was using a ttf. Taking a cue from BobLevine, I converted it to otf and it seems to be working fine now.
