OMG. How do you change text (word) in DW?

I am not talking about Font, Color, Format, Alignment... I am talking about actually editing the word into some other word. Simple. How? I am going crazing. BTW, i have the latest version, blah, blah, blah.

In CC 2015,  switch to Design View.  See screenshot.

          design_view.jpg

Click in the target area and type to your heart's content.

Can you copy & paste a screenshot of your workspace?

Also, can you type anything in code view?

Hi. Do you see where I am going wrong?

Honestly, this looks like it's all dynamically driven from data files or other external sources that we can't see.

Can you copy & paste the code from your index.html please?

Question:  So what do you notice about this document that's different from a typical HTML file?

ANSWER:  There is no CONTENT to edit.  It's all script driven.

Start opening your JS files to see what's going on under the hood.

Agh. Is there an app to edit js, like dream weaver? In other words, how do I know which Js file and where to edit? Search the text

                                    THE REAL ANSWER:

When working with js frameworks like angular and package management systems like bower your best bet is to use a *true* professional IDE like PhpStorm or WebStorm, not an amatuer-wannabe-pro IDE application (for lack of a better term) like Dreamweaver. Someone saying something like "start opening your JS files to see what's going on under the hood" obviously has absolutely NO idea what they're talking about regarding this topic and would be better off just keeping their mouth shut instead of wasting your valuable time by giving you very poor advice like that.

You don't even have a terminal in Dreamweaver and have to use a separate application to load npm packages, shell into the server, and run other common terminal commands that are used on a daily basis when working with these technologies. How lame is that? #ewww. Don't get me started on Dreamweaver's lack of Git support either. Both PhpStorm and WebStorm have terminal and Git support along with many other features that Dreamweaver will likely never have.

Ditch Dreamweaver immediately! Leave DW for the wannabe poor saps that want to think they're a web developer, buy WebStorm (or JetBrains' all products pack like I did because AppCode is rad as an added bonus if you also develop iOS/OSX apps), and never look back!

                                    best,

Although the real answer has been given, may I suggest that the website is database driven and that the changes in content can only be made using the Packet Administration Panel or similar program that interacts with the database?

For a user and contributor to a Dreamweaver forum to suggest that Dreamweaver is useless is partially correct; in this case because of what is contained in my opening sentence. Just as useless as the so-called *true* professional IDE's

You can suggest that, but you're wrong. The complied angular application has both static and dynamic content. It's not all database driven, partner. Static content is accessible from the app's code. What OP provided looks like a complied version of the project, most likely given to them by a developer that complied the application. Similar program that interacts with the database?!? Wait... you mean like PhpStorm or WebStorm that I suggested? Because both PhpStorm and WebStorm provide direct access to the database (be it MySQL, or MongoDB/NoSQL - which you and other forum users most likely have no experience using whereas I do have several years experience using). Have you used the packet admin panel you're suggesting or is this some lame attempt to quickly Google something you don't know anything about (like you've done in the past with wild goose chase replies like this) in a valiant effort to try and defend a platform like Dreamweaver that certainly does not help the OP in this scenario?

You can suggest that a peanut butter sandwich will help the OP. That doesn't mean it will. I noticed the other non-experienced poster heeded my advice and kept their mouth shut after realizing they have no idea what they're talking about. May I now suggest that you do the same?

I stand by my original remark which was, Honestly, this looks like it's all dynamically driven from data files or other external sources that we can't see. "

To that extent I was spot on and I have nothing to apologize for.  Suffice it to say Angular is not my coding thing.  I make no bones about that and again I have nothing to apologize for.

On point, the question was "OMG! I can't edit text (words) with Dreamweaver."   Right, because there's no real content to speak of.  It's all coming from other sources.

I think we can all safely agree that Dreamweaver is not the right tool for working with this Angular project and just leave it at that.

I'm guessing this is some sort of sophisticated backend app for you to use to use online.

It's definitely not a static web site template you can work with in Dreamweaver or any other plain HTML editor.

Like I said before: what you have is a complied application. Meaning the "code" gets complied when it's deployed to a server which results in the source code you see. Access to the original, uncomplied source code will clearly show you static content areas that aren't database driven and are able to be easily changed in the code and then recomplied and deployed to a server. The uncomplied code can, in fact, easily be edited in a plain HTML editor (professional IDEs like the ones mentioned earlier make it VERY easy). Get the uncomplied code for the application and hire a competent application developer to edit your app. You won't make any progress here trying to get advice from other posters like Nancy and Ben that honestly have no idea WTF they're talking about and have no shame in feeling sorry that they are leading you on a wild goose chase talking out of their rear end.

                                                          *THE REAL ANSWER:*

When working with js frameworks like angular and package management systems like bower your best bet is to use a **true** professional IDE like PhpStorm or WebStorm, not an amatuer-wannabe-pro IDE application (f+or lack of a better term+) like Dreamweaver. Someone saying something like "+start opening your JS files to see what's going on under the hood+" obviously has absolutely NO idea what they're talking about regarding this topic and would be better off just keeping their mouth shut instead of wasting your valuable time by giving you very poor advice like that.

Leave DW for the wannabe poor saps that want to think they're a web developer, buy WebStorm (or JetBrains' all products pack like I did because AppCode is rad as an added bonus if you also develop iOS/OSX apps), and never look back!

                                                          best,

I was wondering where the helpful marks were coming from. I am also wondering if the system should be changed to overcome the ability for a poster to mark his/her (hard to say when one hides behind a pseudonym) own post as being helpful.

I had checked out PhpStorm and Webstorm, but, its all text and i am not a developer. DW seems to be a program that is built for us non-developers, but, its highly kluge and a beast to work with.

You've been misled as to DW's capabilities for non-developers.

The program really does assume you understand at least html and css (some javascript) in order to use it to create a typical, static html website.

Unfortunately, that's not what you have been given by your developer.

DW is going to be useless for you in this case. It's simply the wrong program for the task at hand. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any program on the market that will allow a self-described "non-developer" the ability to work with your files, without wreaking total havoc.
