Options for upgrading past Indesign CS5.5

One of our work computers needs to updated to either CS6 or whatever is currently available through Adobe. What are my options here? We are looking for the cheapest option to at least get this computer compatible with CS6 files (which is what our other computers use).

      Thanks for the help.

Cheap in the short term? The Creative Cloud subscription is very cheap.

Actually, if you use more than just InDesign and like to stay remotely up to date, the Creative Cloud subscription is a pretty good value over the long term too. (At least, it is for me! )

Buying CS6 will be throwing good money after bad. There is no upgrade pricing and it has reached end of life.

It can only be purchased by calling Adobe directly. They will warn you about the lack of support and try to talk you into Creative Cloud.

CS6 is unsupported under new operating systems (lots of problems on OSX 10.11, not so many on Windows 10) leaving you completely on your own.

CS6 is also a part of Creative Cloud subscriptions and you can subscribe on a month to month basis or annually.
