When you say "edges", what do you mean?
Do you want to soften/blur the entire clip? Are you trying to make it blurry around the sides of the frame to give it a dream-like quality?
Can you link to an example of the effect you're trying to achieve?
Thanks for the help. Here's the scenario. I have a background, on top of the background I am placing a video clip. The clip doesn't take up the entire frame so I want to blur/soften the edges of the clip so it's not such a sharp contrast against the background. Below is an image of the clip. You'll see the edge of the video clip I want to blur/soften against the background. Thanks.
There's no easy way to do this. But you can do it with a Track Matte and a custom-designed graphic.
Do you understand how to use the Track Matte?
Not at all, lol. I'm sure there's a video of it somewhere. Any tips using this process to create a softer edge?
Well, I show you how to create the effect you want, step by step with illustrations, in "Cool Tricks & Hot Tips for Premiere Elements 14", available on Amazon.
But, if you aren't already comfortable with the Track Matte, I'm not sure I could explain it in a few lines here on the forum.
Might be worth searching YouTube for tutorials on the effect.
This is very easily done with the crop effect.
Dont need to tweak the edges (set them all to 0) just the feather.
Set feather to about -100.
Good find, Ann!
