Thank you for the quick reply. Just a couple of follow-up questions to make sure I understand. So it seems like I would just drag the versions 1 thru 4 application icons to the trash, but should I not perform the "optional" steps (delete prefs, databases, etc) if I plan to continue using version 5? Or are those prefs/databases/etc unique to each version and can be safely deleted without impacting version 5 functionality?
Also, as I mentioned, my version 4 (and some of the prior versions) were "update/upgrade" purchases, not full purchases. If I delete versions 1 thru 4 will that prevent me from using version 5 since it was not a "full" purchase (and prevent me from purchasing future "update/upgrade" versions? Thanks.

The upgrade/full stuff only matters during the install of the new software.
If you like the way the newest software is running, feel free to delete the old software.
Do NOT delete the preferences, databases, etc.
If you do still have all those versions on your system, version 1 through 4, removing them will free up some space but not a whole lot.
Most all LR versions only take up about 1GB +/- of space. So uninstalling, removing, versions 1, 2, 3 and 4 from your system will only free up about 4-6 GBs of space.
It is all your images that take up the most space.
