Just to let you know. I had the same problem about a month ago. while I was trying to fix it, my whole computer crashed. I did get my computer fixed and reinstalled Light Room. It worked properly for a short time, and then Light room stopped working.
Doubled post - please disregard!

You can try turn off the Graphics Processor from the Lightroom preferences and check if that helps.
Go to Lightroom Preferences from the Edit menu
Click on Performance tab
Uncheck the Graphics Processor
Let us know if that helps.
This is one of the first things I found on here and when I tried to do it, I found that mine was already unchecked. So this didn't help at all. Actually, what did help me and has worked ever since is a response that someone posted in one of the forums which I can't seem to find now. He said to open LR and minimze the window so it isn't touching the sides of the frame and then without trying to import, close LR and then restart it. When I did this, LR restarted much faster and has worked just fine ever since. This person said it has something to do with memory. I don't understand it fully and it sounded far fetched but it worked and that's all I needed. It seems to me that this is a huge problem that Abobe needs to address. I never had this problem with my previous versions of LR. But it seems Adobe isn't interested in addressing it. Thanks for your response. Maybe this info will be helpful to others.
