    i5930 vs i6700

    MisiSipos80 Level 1

      Hi there,

      I got two systems:

      system one:

      cpu i5930k H100i water cooled

      mobo: MSI x99a xpower

gpu: evga gtx 980 ti hybrid

      ram: 32 gb corsair dominator.

the system is overclocked to 4.5 ghz

      win 7 64 bit

Rendered with newest cc media encoder, cuda engine

      system two:

      cpu: i6700 stock cooler

      mobo: asus  z170 pro gaming

      gpu: asus gtx 980 ti

      ram 8gb

      the system runs at 3.5ghz

      win 10

Render with cs6 media encoder, cuda engine

How is that possible that system 2 is out performed system one?

I rendered the very same composition, with the very same settings and I got the following result:

system one render time:  2 hours and 30 minutes

system two render time: 56 minutes

I spent a fortune on system one and it is quite an unpleasant surprise seeing that my system is out performed significantly by a weaker system.

Any reason for that? Or is cs6 render engine is better than cc?

      Thanks,

      Misi

You can download any of the following versions of AE: CS6, CC, CC 2014, and CC 2015 through the Creative Cloud app. Pick a version and install it on both of those machines to test rendering between them with the same versions. That way you can eliminate software differences and compare apples to apples.
