There's no reason in the world that should happen.

But it doesn't sound like you're looking for help. Just an opportunity to vent.

If you timeline is widescreen being SD or HD the dvd will export to widescreen.

Check the image on the right in the export settings.

If your timeline is 4:3 there is no point in exporting to widescreen as your dvd player will handle that for you.

So in other words if you want a widescreen dvd you need to set up your timeline in widescreen.

I spent over 1-hour with there chat technical support.  They agreed with the problem.  PRE 13 which is on another of my computers DOES have a widescreen option.  After remote login and playing around their solution he said was to make a post on web site for new feature.

              Hi John,

All the DVD presets(Standard and widescreen) for NTSC and PAL were there till premiere elements 13.

Now in Premiere Elements 14 shows only those presets which matches the Clip in timeline or Project settings.

If you want to export your project to widescreen DVD then you need to folllow these steps.

              1. Create new project

              2. Click on change settings on create new project dialog

              3. Select NTSC - DV - WideScreen 48khz and click on ok button

              4. Select the "Force Selected Project settings" option

Now your project will be exported in DVD Widescreen.

              Thanks,

              Pankaj Gauba

                  OMG.

This is not my first video.

The project preset have ALWAYS been 16:9 HD 1920x1080 30I

The original video was shoot in 1920x1080 30I.  It works on PRE13.  When that project is done I will take a screen shot.

Here is a screen shot of PRE 14 DVD.  You see only SD 576 720x576 or SD 480 720x480.  That is ALL.

On PRE 13 you get 1920x1080 and others.

I will add a screen shot of PRE 13 when the computer is done.

                        Set up a 1920x1080 project.

put some HD clips in the timeline (empty project wont give you an output preview)

click on the dvd option and you will see something like this:

                        dvd widescreen.png

                        Looks widescreen to me.

If your project is widescreen it will output to a widescreen dvd.

If your project is 4:3 the dvd will also be 4:3.

On a side note Support has not a clue what they are talking about.

Try launching the program and then immediately holding down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys on the LEFT SIDE OF YOUR KEYBOARD. Hold them until you get a Windows notification that a change is being made to your system. Then OK the change.

This has nothing to do with burning to dvd its either the project setting or the clip (I think the latter)

Do you have the latest Quicktime installed?

It looks like your clip shows also 4:3 in the timeline. Hard to see.

Clip is very dark. Dont you have a lighter one preferably with people or a round object.

From what camera is this clip taken from

What does the Interpret footage say in the Media Assets?

Better yet, please upload a clip for testing.

Sorry  you do not know how to enlarge the photos I have included.  If you could do that you would easily see that the orginal VIDEO was HD not SD.  The PROJECT setting were HD not SD.

Yes I have the latest Quicktime.

Again the clip IS 1920x1080  I can not understand how you can not read that or see it is NOT 4:3

So what that the clip is dark or has or has not a shape.

Video was from a Canon T4IIn the Media assets is say 1920x1080.
