I have spent hours on this beautiful memorial day working on a project in after effects. After about five hours of work, I added the project to the render que so I could export it to a mov file. However, I made the mistake of exporting it in the wrong file (I believe). After the video was done rendering, I closed out of after effects without saving my project. When I went to play back what I had just finished rendering in VLC player, just a black screen with no audio plays for the duration of the composition (1 min 30 seconds). All I want to do is figure out how to get the project back open in after effects so I can render it again in the right file type. I don't think I have auto save on because when I search the PC for the after effects project, nothing comes up.
What kind of file did you render? Why the VLC player?
If you did not save the project file then even if you had autosave enabled it wouldn't have done anything. Unless you can rescue your rendered file you are out of luck and you learned a valuable lesson.
If you can find the rendered file try loading it in the Adobe media encoder to see if anything shows up. If that doesn't work try loading it in Premier or AE.
Yeah, looks like I am out of luck. I sure learned my lesson. I'll take another look to see if I can find anything, but from the looks of it, I don't think anything is going to work.
