CS5 works with up to ACR 6.x where the last version was ACR 6.7.1.
You’ll need to use the latest DNG Converter to make DNGs from the CR2s, then those DNGs but no the CR2s will open in the older software.

Sorry I'm using a Mac running OS10.10.5. ACR 6.7.1 is for Elements on a PC. No it doesn't work.

Adobe Camera Raw is a plugin used by both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements on Mac and PC.
CS5.1 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7.1.
The Canon 5DS R was first supported in Camera Raw 9.0 which is only compatible with CS6 and Cloud versions.
As a CS5.1 Mac owner, you have a few choices:
- Join the Cloud, or
- Upgrade to CS6 (not recommended for old software like CS6), or
- Use the DNG converter. The converter is a separate utility to batch convert folders of Raw files to DNG format. You then edit the DNG files in CS5.1

I downloaded camera raw 6.7.1 no luck there. I can use the software that comes with the camera and that works. But I want my work flow thru Bridge >Photoshop. Looks like upgrading to CS6.
