Some background, I have a Windows 10 system and have a usb drive that has all of my photos, catalogs and collections. I use a cloud storage service to back up that usb drive. From time to time I need to go on the road and would like to take some of the collections I am working on with me. I would like to copy selected collections to my local HD. When I am done I want to move them back to my usb drive. Is there a way to do this or is there a better way?
I don't know about moving it to your hard drive and back to your jab drive, but, you can use Lightroom mobile... If you have an iPad you can have the collections on your iPad, or phone, but I'm assuming you want to work on the images and for me, it's easier on the iPad.
You can export a collection to a new catalog. If you choose 'include negatives', that will copy the image files to the same location where you save the new exported catalogs.
The second half of Theresa's suggestion:
After you get back home, you can merge your "travel" catalog back into the main catalog using the "import from catalog" command.
