As far as I am aware you do not have the turn on Caps Lock for the key board shortcuts to function.
R(Crop) does not turn CapsLock off for me. Lightroom CC2015.6 and OS X 10.11.5.
CapsLock stays on for me even after selecting and unselecting Crop. Lightroom CC2015.6 and OS X 10.11.5, Bluetooth keyboard, iMac.
When the instructions, Documentation, states "Hit the R, T, Whatever Key" you don't have to press the Shift key or toggle Caps Lock on to make them work.
The instructions and or documentation is just using the capital letter so it stands out. If you need to use a secondary modifier key, Shift, Ctrl, whatever, it will state "Press (Whatever Modifier Key)+(Letter or Number Key)".
Also having the Caps Lock on and then using either the "R" key or clicking the Crop icon doesn't toggle Caps Lock off on my system.
Also to my knowledge the Caps Lock key/toggle only works for letter keys when typing in a document of some type. It doesn't do the same thing as pressing the Shift key when using Keyboard Shortcuts inside of a program.
That's not what I was saying at all.
Caps Lock On can be used to automatically move to the next photo after color labelling or starring a photo. That's one reason to want Caps Lock on.
Unrelated to this, If I had Caps Lock on, it would automatically be turned off when I activated the Crop Tool.
Anyway, it looks like the problem was resolved by a restart. I had noticed it right after updating to the latest Lightroom, but the next day it didn't happen any more. So I think it just needed a computer restart.
