Same issue here in OSX El Capitan. Strangely enough it happened only a few days ago for the first time. Yesterday, when starting AE with Command-Option-Shift keys pressed, I was able to work with it again, but this morning after boot-up: dead, same issue. Any help is much appreciated!
What version of your OS are you using?
I'm currently using El Capitan v 10.11.5
After Effects CC 2015 v 13.8
Have you added any scripts or plugins to AE?
I believe the only plug-in that i've installed was a trial version of a Red Giant Trapcode plug-in. This was at the beginning of the year. When i started having this problem a couple of weeks back, i deleted it from the plug-ins folder.
Further info if it helps...After deleting Red Giant Trapcode plug-in from the plug-ins folder, i uninstalled AE then reinstalled the latest version with the same results.
If you right-click AE and choose to Run as Administrator, does that work?
Perhaps i'm missing something, but right-clicking doesn't appear to give me that option on my mac
Oh, dang it! I forgot we were on Mac for this one. That works on Windows...
I don't know of any solution for Macs. You may have to contact Adobe support on this one. If you find a solution, please let us know!
I had this issues on my mac (MAC OS X Sierra) as well. And I found a solution:
"After Effects won't launch because The Common Extensibility Platform (CEP) suite couldn't be loaded"
Solution: 1. Create an administrator account with all rights macOS Sierra: Set up users, guests, and groups on your Mac
2. log in as administrator
3. Launch"After Effects" application
(It also works if Premiere or Character Animator don't launch)
I know it's one year ago that you posted this but it was the only forum where I've found a discussion about this issue. And I was searching for a solution a whole day, without knowing that it's that easy... So I decided to write my solution here. Hope it's helpful for others.
Hey there - just ran into this issue, spoke to Adobe support tech, who was useless and just blamed the problem on Mac.
Found a work around. Instead of downloading and installing through the Creative Cloud Desktop App, I went and downloaded the After Effects .dmg by logging into my Adobe ID on their website, searching After Effects and downloading. Installing that way worked. Seems there's an issue with the installer and permissions when it comes to downloading through the Creative Cloud Desktop App.
Hope that helps everyone struggling with this annoying issue. Adobe support, if you're reading this, take note.
I'm experiencing the same issue. I have tried all solutions previously presented, around 3 times each. The error keeps popping up and I'm unavailable to start After Effects. There is no other thread or page reaching this close to a solution, which is why I'm writing here.
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

I'm trying to launch the most recent version (or 2017) of After Effects. Clueless of what the next step would be. All help is greatly appreciated.
