I've started to notice that all AE file (.aep) no longer have a tiny, purple icon on my external, non-retina Thunderbolt display. I see an icon in larger thumbnail views of the finder, but list and column views only show a blank, white icon. When I drag the winder window to my Macbook Pro screen, the icons appear. They disappear again when the window goes back to the non-retina display. Is anyone else experiencing this?
What I see:
List View and Column View: White Icon
Thumbnail View: Normal AE document icon
OS X El Capitan 10.11.5
2015 Macbook Pro connected to 27" Thunderbolt Display
AE 13.7.2 and 13.2 installed
I performed a complete erase/install last week and fresh installs of all Creative Cloud apps. I have also downloaded AE CC 2014 (along with updates) to see if that corrected the icon issue without success.
I booted into Safe Mode (holding down Shift on startup) and saw the icons appeared normally. I restarted and booted normally and now see icons. The Safe Boot somehow cleared up whatever was wrong with .aep icon previews.
Thanks for sharing what worked.
