Please turn off the Graphics Processor from the Lightroom preferences.
Go to Lightroom Preferences from the Edit menu
Click on Performance tab
Uncheck the Graphics Processor

Roll back to the 2015.5.1 version.
But you would installed the 2015.5.1/6.5.1 update after you first install the 2015.0/6.0 version.
Also if LR still crashes and restarts your Mac then you Mac has hardware problems. More than likely a overheating problem or RAM.
I've tried this and it hasn't crashed yet... Hopefully this works! Thanks
Thats really bad. I have the same problem, I updated the LR this week and start freezing my iMac Retina. So i need to wait a few minutes sometimes to normally. But thats new and as I ever trusted on Lightroom I never used to save the project, and I thought that all changes was automactly saved, but last night I lost about 7 hours of work after a crash. When I open back the catalog, the changes wasn't there and there is no auto save as premiere and another crasher programs use to do.
Anybody knows if there is any way to recover the work or I lost everything?
I just got my MacBook Pro back from Apple repair where they replaced main logic board, graphics processor and entire display unit and trackpad. Now its stable except when running Lightroom which was upgraded shortly before the repairs. Everything was wiped clean and virigin Sierra OS X installed with new Lightroom, photoshop, and my other apps.
I am getting random and frequent freezes and crashes when running Lightroom. I am unable to work. Everytime this happens, I know some harder work is going on because the cooling fan spins up. I will try disabling graphics processor in Lightroom and go from there. I've also scheduled a trip back to Apple Genius Bar for further evaluation.
This is terribly frustrating.
