After a disaster with Win 10, I reverted to Win 7 on a new C: SSD drive. I installed Lightroom CC to the new drive. The old preferences file and catalog remain on the old drive D:. I can now open my main catalog within the program but my other catalogs (D: drive) will only open if I go to the folder with the catalog and open them from there. After opening a catalog, photo changes are saved but none of my preferences are saved. Do I need to move everything to the C: drive? Can anyone suggest how to save my preferences? Thanks
You can keep catalogs and images on any drive but yes, it is suggested to install the program on C:\ drive.
Would suggest you to go to Lightroom Preferences > Presets > click on "Show Lightroom Presets folder" > quit Lightroom > make sure that Lightroom folder has full read and write permissions.
Then, relaunch Lightroom and check if the preferences are getting saved.
Thank you very much for suggesting this fix. I spent many hours trying to right this problem and all it took was a couple of seconds with the right advise. The Lightroom folder was marked read only. Unchecked that and all good now. Thanks again.
