    Navigation inside movie clip

    jimeneutron
      Hi am building a flash site. My navigation menu is within a movie clip. I want to place the navigation movie clip on the main stage and put all flash pages as separate movie clips on the main stage. I then want to click on the navigation menu (movie clip) and have it point to the correct frame on the time line to play the appropriate frame. I cannot seem to get the navigation movie clip to control anything on the main stage. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ASSIST with some type of knowledge.

          _root refers to main timeline regardless how deep in the movie clips you are.
          So, if you want to target any frame, simple _root.gotoAndPlay("someLabelNameHere");

            are you serious so the only thing I need to put in the action script for a particular button is: _root.gotoAndPlay("someLabelNameHere");

              Well, you give frames labels and replace the "someLabelNameHere" with yours and that's pretty
              much it.

              If you want to target movie clips you need to give them Instance Name than place that name
              in action path _root.MovieClipName.play(); or _root.MovieClipName.gotoAndPlay("labelName");

                Hopefully this will be it but I just tried that and it works.....only issue is this. I click on part of the navigation. It goes to that frame like it supposed to. Once it loads, if I click the same navigations button again, it loads another frame. right now I only have two of my pages loaded so it can keep clicking on the same button and it goes back and forth. Maybe even going to a black frame.

                thanks for your help
