Endnotes - waiting 15 years (!) and counting - why is Adobe treating us like this?

I'm a typesetter and I use what is supposed to be industry standard software, Adobe Indesign.

Can anyone tell me how Adobe gets away with not providing support for endnotes? People have been begging Adobe for this fot fifteen years! I'm really fed up of paying an arm and a leg for this software each month, and not have a feature that is heavily used in long documents and has been in Microsoft Word for as long as I can remember.

I'm working on a book with 600 endnotes, which have to restart at every chapter. There are more than chapters, so I will have to split the manuscript in 42 seperate files and import them individually. This really won't do, it's completely ridiculous.
