Please try and turn off the Graphics Processor from Lightroom preferences.
Go to Lightroom Preferences from the Edit menu
Click on Performance tab
Uncheck the Graphics Processor
Unfortunately unchecking the graphics processor did not solve the problem, even after restarting my computer.
Hi Coffeedaemon ,
Please refer this thread LR5 Import dialog does not list any images and ensure that your Sd card or phone do not have xmp files.
Also try copying images from sd card to desktop then try importing them to Lightroom.
I checked my iPhone on Windows file explorer, since there's no easy way to view iPhone files on Mac, and there were no XMP files. I was able to download the photos to my Mac via Image Capture, and then successfully imported them into LR. I hope this issue gets solved, though, so that users don't have to deal with this workaround every time.
I had the same issue and unfortunately updating did not help but I did find a solution: once I unlocked my iPhone then went back to the import dialogue, the photos magically appeared.
hope this helps someone
