Look harder on forum cause there are answers at this question, but if I were you I would go with XENON cpu and GTX1080
I'd probably go for the 5820K or 6800K, just because funds are limited and both would be a serious upgrade from my current i7 920.
But hey, if you can afford something more, go for it. Just be sure to stick to the 2011-v3 socket, as those processors don't have any built-in graphics, which has caused issues for some folks in the past.
for cost, the i7-6800k and gtx 1060 are good value points. for best performance without regard of price, the 10 core i7-6950x and gtx 1080. some go for the middle ground with the i7-6900k and gtx 1070...
all those cpu's should be overclocked 4ghz+
Sony consumer 4K (aka AX100, etc.), save your cash and get the i7-6800k. With the x99 motherboard, you can have lots of upgrade potential down the road as well if you need more firepower.
For Red 4K, which is much more demanding, I'd suggest the i7-6900k. Possibly a bit of overkill if you overclock it to 4.0 GHz, but it will serve you well for a long time.
A GTX 1080 would be great, but possibly a bit of overkill. I've heard some users report the GTX 1070 works pretty well with all variants of 4K.
Hi. Im kinda wondering that myself.
I just finished my build yesterday and I have an i7 6800K and an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW. I havent tested it yet cause it took 7 hours to build it thanks to a very small case with a massive watercooling loop But I plan to test edit and see if hope that render time is muuuch better any day now to see if its faster than my old 3770K I had before.
I also bought 32GB 3200Mhz RAM for it. And I will test if any difference also using Ramcache and OC difference.
