Status check not returning ACS version after upgrade from 4.0 to 6.0

We are in the process (testing) of upgrading ACS from 4.0 to 6.0.  The only issue we are seeing is that after the upgrade, the status check no longer returns a version.

We are utilizing the Adobe-supplied check.js, but get to result from the call.

Has the call changed, or are we missing a configuration property somewhere?

More information... looking in packaging.log, I see an error when trying to retrieve the version...

ERROR Status: Could not retrieve the application version
