Hi! For some reason, every time I try to import an AVI (with the Xvid codec) video and add it to my project, the audio from the file becomes extremely slow- like, 700 to 800 times slow. The audio is still cut off at the same point as the video, so speeding it back up only gives me a small portion of the audio in the correct speed. It's not an issue with the videos themselves, as they play completely normally in every other program I've tried. This also happens consistently with every AVI video I try. I have already installed the Xvid codec. I have also tried all of the troubleshooting techniques for video playback issues offered by Adobe. Also, the audio has the MPEG-1 L2 codec.
I'm running Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7.
The xVid codec (like the Divx codec) is a delivery codec, not an editing codec. Trying to edit xVid is going to lead to nothing but trouble.
Best advice is to convert the file to a MP4 with a constant frame rate using Handbrake.
