Just about to buy a new PC as my current one is having all sorts of issues and getting a bit long in the tooth. My current set up is windows 10 pro 64 bit on an SSD with images stored on a separate 2TB internal HD. Intel i3 3.07 GHz 2 cores 16GB RAM NVidia GT220. Display is 2560x1440
I find that rendering of RAW images takes quite along time so would really like a slicker performance. Question is which components are critical to Lightoom operating optimally as no idea if it is the video card, processor, no cores, RAM etc. Any advice on best practice system configuration really appreciated before I take the plunge
Most critical is the CPU. You definitely want the fastest you can afford (i7-6xxx).
Second is to have a fast SSD, or two, one for the OS and applications and the other the data.
Regarding RAM, 8GB and up is OK.
With your resolution the GPU is not that important. However, follow the tips here: Adobe Lightroom GPU Troubleshooting and FAQ
There may be other opinions - these are just my 2 cents.
