I have the same issue, I'm getting an error message saying: "The following updates were unable to install. If you wish to instal these updates, please fix the problems below and retry:". Then it says there was an error downloading this update for all of the following: 'adobe bridge CS5 4.0.5', 'adobe extension manager CS5 5.0 update' and 'Photoshop 12.0.4 update for Photoshop CS5'. I have recently completely reset my Sony Vaio laptop and reinstalled the Adobe Photosop CS5 bundle with license and can't preview my RAW images as thumbnails, and so I have been trying to update the software to fix this problem, but this is what's preventing my from updating now. Any help appreciated, thank you.

Install the newest Adobe Application Manager and then photoshop cs5 updater should complete the update process.
To R. Kelly - I had the exact same problem as Catherine (the original poster). I followed your advice to install the newest Adobe Application Manager and then Photoshop cs5 and RAW updated like a charm. However, I still can't open the RAW (CS) photos taken with my new camera, which is a Canon 5d Mark IV, which I believe I saw on a list of cameras that are compatible with CS5. I'm not all that computer literate -- i can learn to use software but I don't understand how it all works -- and I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Which operating system are you using?
Since the canon 5d Mark IV requires at least the camera raw 9.7 plugin and photoshop cs5 can only use up to the 6.7 version, one needs to use the adobe dng converter to convert the canon cr2s to dng copies, which then photoshop cs5 can open.
how to use the dng converter
You need to have windows 7 or newer or mac os x 10.10 El Capitan or newer in order to use the 9.7 dng converter.
