render of 8 seconds of footage taking hours

      I am running El Capitan on iMac (Retina 5k, 27-inch, late 2015), 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5, 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon R9 M390 2048 MB.

I rendered a 2 minutes video earlier today and it rendered in an acceptable time.

I am now working on 8 seconds of footage which in preview render was really, really slow.

I rendered about half an hour ago and it hasn't even reached quarter of the way.

The only other app i have open is safari as I am trying to write this thread.

I appreciate the Radeon isn't ideal, but surely it should render a little faster than it is.

Is there anything I can do to speed up the render preview and render time?

I have tried moving cache to SSD. After hours of searching I can only find help on CS6 and nothing from 2016.

By the way moving Premiere cache to SSD worked perfectly after experiencing juddering video play back.

      Thanks

      Mark
