I'm working on a smart preview which I'm sure the source is offline at the moment. However the status text below the histogram indicates:"Original Photo". For making sure, I go to the library panel and request LR to show it to me in Finder(Mac OS), then it reports the image missing. Now two questions:
Well, that benefit for creating a smart previews in Lightroom, because most of the people keep the original data on the external hard drive and its always not easy to carry the external drive along.
By creating a smart preview in Lightroom can at-least help you to edit the image when the actual source is not available or not reachable.
Of course it's the mechanism of the smart preview feature. I know that and I'm using it every day. But my question was not that.
My questions was A) why it erroneously reports it has the source file while it hasn't, and B) why there's no warning when you output a low-res file to a higher resolution intent, in general.
Question B is more of a feature request than a question.
