In Illustrator, just drag the shape from your Library panel into an open document. That's all there is to it.
It's only giving me a .jpg or .png file. I can't get it to produce any form of vector file. dragging and dropping the image into illustrator doesn't convert it to a vector.

Mare you dragging the shape from your Library panel onto an open Illustrator document?
Can you show a screen shot of Illustrator, with the Library panel and Layers panel open, and the shape dragged into your artboard?
Also, please confirm your version number for Illustrator and for Capture.
Hi, I'm wondering how to open a Capture pattern in AI or PS. I can see them in my CC library but nothing happens when I try drag into a document. I'm using CC PS (2015.5) & AI (2015.3) Any help would be much appreciated!
I'm sorry it's not working for you. Patterns currently can only be used in Photoshop CC and clicking on any pattern should open it in a new document. A couple of questions:
What version of the Creative Cloud Desktop App are you using (click on the CC logo in the menu bar, then Preferences)?
What version of Capture CC are you using?
Are all the patterns that aren't opening in Ps CC in the same library?
Have you tried creating a new library and bringing one of the patterns into it to see if it can be accessed from there?
Any additional details you can give me will help.
Thank you for your response! I'm able to open now in PS and you answered my questions about AI.
Happy to hear that. Thanks for letting me know.
