I have Lightroom catalog with about 70k images. It's 2.2TB. About 30% of the images are scanned negatives but most are from various DSLR cameras and are a raw+JPG.
I will travel soon and want to bring the catalog with me on a small external HDD. If I delete all the raw files I can get down to less than 1 TB. How do i do this and preserve all the catalog attributes such as location, people, develop setting and etc?
If I 'export as catalog' it will export the raw files - we don't want that. If I delete all the raw files and then open the new Picture directory using the old catalog it does not see any files (it is looking for NEF files, not JPG).
When you export deselect the option to include negatives, these are the raw files. You can always use smart previews if your version of LR supports them.
hi .. I tried that and it exports the lrcat file and the previews file ... but not the original picture files ...
When you imported these did you check the box in preferences to treat Raw+jpeg as separate photos? If not this is probably the cause of your problems. The Smart Previews allow you to achieve 80% of the actual files so what are you wanting to do with the export?
