[PROBLEM] Rules for changing a page size?!

    derhaunstetter

      Good Morning,

does anyone know if there are settings to tell InDesign that it should use the middle anchor when i'm resizing the page size in my document preferences?

I have two (many more) files where InDesign handles the resizing differently. In one document InDesign resizes the page from the middle and in the other document it's resizing from the top left corner.

Is there a setting to change this for a document or would you say the document with top left corner is "broken" ?

      Background:

I created an AppleScript to change ~700 InDesign documents with many steps to work with. The script works great with types of the first example document (resize from middle) .. and no the problem is not because of my script ;-) it's the same when i change the page size manually..

      best regards

If you change the document size via File > Document Setup… the result depends if your document has facing pages or not.

If you change the page size via the Page Tool, it depends on the setting in the proxy in the control bar on top.

The further a huge influence of the result has if you activate Layout Adjustment or alternative Liquid Layout and one of its rules both together are incompatible.

Another influence which is important is, if the objects align to the border margins and ruler guides also. If so, changing the document size and borders with active Layout Adjustment will respect this alignment. If these objects are not aligned, bad luck to work with Layout Adjustment.

These influences will have an impact on the results?

Are you from Austria? I ask only, because the name sounds Southern either Austria or Bavaria. (I am also an Austrian.)

            Hi Willi,

the problem is that the two documents were created from the same master document and have the same elements in it. So this is very strange and crashed our plans to save 30 days of work if we have would do the changes manually. We also don't use Liquid Layouts and have Layout Adjustment not activated. The documents consist of 3 single pages - no facing pages.

And yes - I'm from Bavaria

            Hi Willi,

set page width of document preferences of active document to 280.701

set page height of document preferences of active document to 389.325
