I'm working off of a PDF file that my coworker created. I have the fonts downloaded in Typekit, however when I open it in Illustrator, the fonts are missing. I've restarted, uninstalled, and updated the program. I also made sure that Typekit is turned on.
I noticed that the font in document is named CorporateS/E and not Corporate S/E with a space between... could that have anything to do with it?

Yes, that's correct. The fonts that were used to create the document were named slightly differently than the ones you've synced from Typekit, so the software doesn't use them automatically. You can use that Find Font window to tell Illustrator that "Corporate S Bold" should be used in place of "CorporateS Bold", for example. Here are instructions on how to do so:
