You probably have LIVE PHOTOS turned on in the iPad which makes a mini movie of every photo. Turn it off.
You're absolutely right but the question is : if I import these pictures, they come as 2 or 3 seconds of video but I want to keep the pictures only and edit them with Lightroom.
How do I do that ?
How are you importing them? Using Lightroom Mobile? Or through Lightroom Desktop and its Import command?
My guess is that these photos are created as a JPEG plus a video, and that Lightroom Desktop would treat these like it handles RAW+JPEG pairs - ignoring the JPEG, by default. So try changing the Preference / General / Treat JPEGs next to raw files as separate photos, and then try importing. That may be enough to resolve your problem, or it would point to what to do in future.
I am using Lightroom on a PC to import them. Your guess is correct.
I have saved all the pictures on the iPad as still( disabling the live photo attribute), but they still come out as MOV when importing.
Your suggestion does help. I see both movies and a separate JPG (I think).
Until Lightroom has a solution when importing these live photo's I gone stick with your suggestion.
