I'm familiar with how a forum works. I did try this but it didn't work.
if you know how forums work you should know you are making this very difficult for yourself to find an answer to your problem: you did not provide any details on what you already tried, so there's no way of knowing. also no tags so users can't easily find this post. What exact version of AE are you running? What are your exact system specs?
if you already tried the steps here: After Effects or Premiere Pro crashes after starting , then there's all this: troubleshooting QuickTime errors with After Effects CS5, CS5.5, CS6, and CC | Creative Cloud blog by Adobe and if that doesn't work try this suggestions that were offered by forum users that all else failed:
1. Try to disable firewall/antivirus (there was a problem with AVG specifically)
2. Delete your prefs folder and run CCLEANER
3. Delete your user account and create a new one.
and there's always the option to upgrade your software since you are 6-8 years behind on software development and that includes all sort of bug fixes
