I have a student that saved her file, but when she opened it back up the score was fine, but the cast was blank. What the heck happened?

          Hi mwv,

I have seen the above happen. It occurs when there is an issue in saving the file. For example, if the file was being saved to a flash card and the
card did not have enough disk space for the file, what Director does is deletes all the cast members to compact the file size.

As long as all the cast members have names and all the content exists as external files, the file can be recovered by re-importing everything over
the deleted members. Say, for example, in the cast you see a blank member but it has the name image1, if the image1 file is imported into that cast
slot, the score will update with the correct graphic.

To avoid the problem of casts being deleted, movies should always be authored and saved to a local hard drive area. Using external devices or network
          drives can be problematic.
