did you install a trial of the Creative Cloud recently?
Then your CS6 will be regarded as part of the trial of CC.
How to revert:
1. Completely uninstall all CC trials incl. the CC Desktop app that manages the cloud software
2. Completely uninstall your CS6 suite incl. InDesign
3. Reinstall CS6 perpetual
Also CS6 is past end of life. This means there is no support. But also there are no more updates.
Raymond is using v8.0.1.
So there are two updates possible:
After uninstalling you will begin with 8.0.0 from scratch.
1. InDesign CS6 v8.0.0 downloads:
2. Adobe InDesign CS6 8.0.2 update (no need to update to 8.0.1 first)
3. Install and then update from InDesign's own update mechanism from 8.0.2 to 8.1.0.
At least on Mac OSX you will not see an update possible, if 8.0.1 is installed.
The 8.1 update is available only to CS6 installed through a Creative Cloud subscription.....
Hm. Maybe, maybe not, Peter.
I've seen 8.1 updates on Windows at the University where I teach from time to time where no cloud version is involved. And I definitely lead one of my colleagues here in Germany through the installation process of 8.1 through 8.0.0. and 8.0.2 who was not on the cloud. Or at least has only one single subscription to Adobe Muse and not for InDesign.
It was available to all CS6 users for a day or two (I have it here), then removed from the general downloads and now only offered via cloud.
Yes, I know that, Peter.
As far as it goes for Windows, perhaps.
But the crazy thing is, that with a fresh install of 8.0.0 on a German Mac OSX and an update to 8.0.2 with a DMG installer file provided by ProDesignTools I was able to update to 8.1.0 through InDesign's own update mechanism after a restart. Did that twice on machines that have no CC software installed.
I'd say you are very fortunate.
