I recently came across a video with a fire/explosion like animation and I am trying to replicate that same effect but can't figure out how he got the animated ball of fire in the middle of the screen or the fire that surrounds the dirt portion of the board at this video at 1:14-1:17. It looks like a horizontal scale up followed by a vertical scale up of said fireball, but how can I create the animated ball of flames with that smooth, almost cartoony-like look? I've been trying to use Trapcode Particular, but to no avail. I am trying to replicate the animation as exactly as possible as it would fit perfectly in what I would be using for.
Nothing special here. Just a static particle system like Trapcode Form with animated parameters. You could even possibly fake some of it with Ball Action, Foam and similar stock AE effects.
