The AS below works getting fresh data from a server, not sure about locally,
you tag a random bit of text at the end of what you're grabbing, and it
makes Flash think it's a new file everytime. I'm an AS noob, but this might

The .txt file is completely external, and the flash file is in my cast, but is "linked" rather than embedded. Does it have to be totally external to work properly?
The director file, Flash file and .txt file are all in the same directory.
I was using Flash MX, and it was going out as a Player 6 file. I tried it in Flash MX 2004, publishing it as a Player 7 file, and it works fine now.
