The program needs to have permanent access to your media the entire time you're editing your video project. So, if your video or other media is on an external drive, that drive must remain attached to your computer the entire time you're editing. If you disconnect the drive, the connection to the media is lost.
Also, when you reconnect a drive or restart your computer, sometimes Windows doesn't realize it's looking at the same drive and it can become confused.
Map your computer and assign a drive letter to this external drive so that Windows realizes it's always the same drive and the program won't lose track of the media.
Thanks Steve for your help. I mapped the drive for a specific drive letter. I also verified that it's the same drive letter every time. Also with reboots. PE does still prompts me for the removable media dialogue and import. Is there any track I have to do that PE believes it's safe to work with?
Edit: I just realized that both HDD work now, the issue is now only applying to my fast external SSD.
If your drives are mapped and you've assigned a letter to them and they are plugged in and continually available to the program, you should have no problems, ronny. So I don't know what's going on.
