Is there a way to process RAW images in the background (using Camera Raw) while still working on other photos in Photoshop?
I suppose you use Adobe Bridge and open the camera raw photos there and still use photoshop.
Yes, as Kelly mentioned. If you open the files in Bridge, by right clicking and selecting "Open in Camera Raw," you can processing images in PS at the same time. I used to do that all the time when I was working. I'd correct images in ACR, while I had a script process the images that I corrected.
Yes. That does work, to select an image in Bridge and choose File > Open in Camera Raw. One reason I do that is to edit a raw image without opening up Photoshop.
It's also a way to have two instances of Camera Raw open at the same time. One open from Bridge, the other open from Photoshop.
