What is the exact full name of the file you downloaded? Where did you download it from?
You might as well download and install Lightroom 3.6, the last update you are eligible to receive at no cost. I don't know what file you downloaded before. But here is a link to the download page for Lightroom 3.6 for Windows:
Two places. First, when I opened Lightroom today there was a popup telling
me that there was an update I should download. Second, when I was unable to
download it I followed forum instructions to go to Adobe website and
download directly from there, which I tried to do. Exactly same result.
Same error message.
Lightroom 3.6 was the final release for Lightroom 3. What is the exact version that you have installed? Lightroom 3 has been out of production for several years. It seems unlikely that you would be receiving a notification of an update now. It could be an offer for you to upgrade to the current version which is Lightroom 6. So check the about screen in Lightroom and tell us the exact version of Lightroom that you have installed.
Yes, I know 3.6 is the final update, and I have 3.2. I hadn't used it for a while but just began working with Lightroom again, and I am getting the message that there is the update. I'm not being offered Lightroom 6. It's 3.6 that is being offered but as indicated in original post, I cannot download it, either from the link that I get via Lightroom 3.2 or when I go to the Adobe site for direct download. Same error message. Is there any reason why I should not be able to bring Lightroom 3 up to date with its final update?
I'm not getting any offers to upgrade to Lightroom 6. I assume I'd be buying a whole new program, at usual retail, right? Unless there is some cheaper way, I'd rather just get all I can out of Lightroom 3.
Thanks so much for this link, which worked completely smoothly. Not sure why I could not find it myself on Adobe site, but you solved my problem. I appreciate it!
