Only InDesign and InCopy support ciompletely all text features InDesign offers. If you use another editor, MS Word or any other application you will suffer loss of specific characters, spaces or other features or the coworker will not see everything. I strongly recommend to use InCopy for text editiors like translators. InCopy is less expensive than InDesign and allows a seamless workflow. inCopy can also be linked to some translation software.
I think if someone works in a professional way with such programs he should invest for those tools and not work with programs which will change content because they are not able to work flawless together with InDesign.
