I am on a 2009 iMac 27 inch with 8 gb of ram and the latest Capitan Update.
Ive had this problem before. I open Lightroom, insert a card, go to import, and BAM - beach ball of death. Forever.
I I actually contact their live Remote Desktop support a couple weeks ago, and they changed my permissions. Maybe they got changed back incorrectly?
Now it's even worse than before. My browser, Google Chrome, was essentially bricked for a while.
any suggestions? This is driving me crazy...again
And I restrated, ejected the card, plugged the card back in, and now it can't find photos and is frozen.
It is not LR. It is your Mac. LR does not have a spinning beach ball. Apple Mac OS X has a spinning beach ball when the system is over taxed. It is the "WAIT I'm Doing Something Else" sign.
Yes check what else is running on your system and shut it down. Check how hot your Mac is getting, blow out the dust. Check the health of the HDD, it could be failing.
That is a good call on checking all of those. Looked and they were fine. Turns out a faulty plist and just needed an update! All smooth sailing now!
