    Actionscript 2.0 in flash 6

    Level 7
      Hello,

Was there actionscript 2.0 in flash 6. I'm exporting a movie from flash 8 to
version flash 6 with actionscript 2.0. I know many things were not supported
in flash 6. But was actionscript 2.0 even available back then, such as basic
      classes?

I'm running into some strange problems where the SWF is loading in Firefox
but not in IE, and was wondering if anyone can give me a little knowledge in
      this area.

      Thanks,
      Dan

No, there wasn't. But AS2 code is backwards compatible with Flash Player 6 (not older versions) with a few minor exceptions:
          -no exception handling
-not case sensitive (but the reserved words are)
          -no type casting

My publish settings in Flash 8 allow me to specify AS1 or AS2 when
publishing a Flash Player 6 SWF. As LuigiL mentioned, you have to cater to
the supported features of the Flash Player version. You can find the
availability of every language element in the ActionScript 2.0 Language
