I'm trying to import my photographs from a SD card into Lightroom 6. I can find the destination in my C drive, under pictures, and then under 2015 or 2016. If I click on either 2015 or 2016, I'll get a list of all of the specific date folders, i.e. 2015-05-18 . So here is where I am having a problem. When I click on any of the date folders, under 2015 or 2016, I see a list of all of my photographs and all of the date folders again. For example when I click on 2016 and then click on 2016-01-02, because this is where I would like to place all of the photographs, I can see 2015 with all of the specific date folders as well as 2016 and with all of the specific date folders. Beside each of the specific date folders, there is the number of photographs in each folder. What am I doing wrong?
In the LR import dialog you would normally select the SD card or the folder on the card containing the photos, sometimes called DCIM. Set the import dialog to “Copy” and then expand the right-hand destination panel and choose dated subfolders. LR should import and arrange everything automatically by capture date.
In the Import dialog window on the left hand side you need to select the SD card as the Source of the import. Normally LR detects you have a SD card inserted in your card reader.
Is the SD card showing up as a "Source"? If not then maybe your card reader has failed or the card isn't inserted properly, all the way in.
Also make sure "Include Subfolders" is selected.
