1. Re: empty watchfolder and dropbox camera upload
13macfil Aug 15, 2016 10:39 AM (in response to 13macfil)This might be a solution: let dropbox create the camera upload folder, then close of you internet connection, erase what´s in the Camera upload folder, go to LR and choose this folder as the watch folder.
10 Minutes later: db starts erasing files - so I guess its not the solution!

13macfil Aug 18, 2016 2:46 AM (in response to 13macfil)Yes, please don´t ever try that - somehow LR erases all files that are in the camera -upload folder (the watchfolder) . It took me two days to fix that (15000 fotos...). There is a possibility to redo erased files in dropbox, but it works really bad so you end up redoing 10 files at a time, and guess what it is: a pain in the...

3. Re: empty watchfolder and dropbox camera upload
ssprengel Aug 18, 2016 8:00 AM (in response to 13macfil)The LR watched folder is a temporary landing area where the camera, or some other process, writes new files to as new photos are taken by the camera, so when LR sees something there, it moves it to whatever destination you have also specified in your Auto Import settings and imports it from there, erasing the original from the watched folder.
If you are wanting to Import photos from a folder and leave them in that folder then just do a standard Import and choose Copy or Copy as DNG as the Import Type. If the Dropbox-synced folder is their final destination then you can use the Add import type. Without knowing what you're trying to do it's hard to give specific advice about the import type.

4. Re: empty watchfolder and dropbox camera upload
13macfil Aug 18, 2016 8:27 AM (in response to ssprengel)Thanks. The idea is to create a process in which the Dropbox camera upload folder is being watched and in case of a new file/foto automatically imports that foto.

5. Re: empty watchfolder and dropbox camera upload
ssprengel Aug 18, 2016 10:00 PM (in response to 13macfil)LR will delete the photo from the watched folder after it is copied to the destination, and that is what you found out the hard way?
Or are you talking about something more complicated?

13macfil Aug 18, 2016 11:45 PM (in response to ssprengel)See initial post:
How can I automatically sync my dropbox camera upload folder with lightroom ? For those who don't know Dropbox: the camera upload folder syncs every foto that I make with the iPhone.
Is there a way?

7. Re: empty watchfolder and dropbox camera upload
Alfred Pennyworth Aug 19, 2016 12:01 AM (in response to 13macfil)The only way is to set the upload folder as the final import location of the photograph, as explpained the watched folder OS a temporary location, the photo is moved to the location designated in the dialog.
